Shipping Information
Shipping Method
We ship all of our plants using USPS Mail. This method is very reliable, and has the fastest delivery time of any of the major carriers. All orders are shipped with tracking information, which is sent when the label is created, usually a day or two before the order reaches the post office. We only ship within the United States.
Shipping Times
Generally you can expect delivery of your order 5-7 business days after ordering. Due to the complexity of shipping live plants, processing a batch of orders can take a couple days before the orders are delivered to the post office. If there is a particularly high volume of orders, such as during a sale, or if we have events over a weekend there can be a slight additional processing time as we work our way through the backlog. Exceptional circumstances, such as holidays or emergencies can increase the fulfillment time somewhat as well.
Generally orders that come in on Thursdays or Fridays (or sometimes late in the day on Wednesday) are processed the following Monday, since we don't ship over the weekends and would not be able to finish the shipping process if we started it late in the week.
Shipping Charges
We charge a metered rate for shipping, plus cost of materials. Orders under 1 lb are shipped USPS Ground Advantage, while orders over 1 lb are shipped USPS Priority.
Tracking
When we ship your order, you will receive an automated confirmation email with a USPS tracking number. You can either track your order on our website, or use your tracking number at www.USPS.com.
Live-Arrival Guarantee
We guarantee that your plants will arrive alive. We will refund the value of any plant that arrives in an unsatisfactory condition with store credit. Our live-arrival guarantee is subject to the following instructions and restrictions:
- You must contact support@predatoryplants.com within 48 hours of your plant’s arrival to request a refund.
- You must provide a photograph of the damaged plant(s).
- Orders that have been delayed or mishandled by the carrier may not qualify.
- Guarantee does not apply to tropical plants (Nepenthes, etc) shipped when low temperatures are below 35F.
NOTE: Many of the plants we sell (American pitcher plants, Venus flytraps, etc.) are temperate perennials, which means they have a Winter dormancy period. These plants may appear extremely unhealthy or even dead if they arrive during this period. In reality, they are perfectly healthy, and will resume growth when Spring arrives.
Mexican Pinguicula have very few roots and often shed their leaves during the shipping process. This can be alarming to people unfamiliar with the plants. Simply set the plant on top of an appropriate soil mix, and place any leafs that detached in transit next to the main plant. These will often produce new plants.
Returns
We do not accept returns of live plants.
Extreme-Weather Shipping
We generally only delay shipping due to our own local weather limitations. We are unable to monitor and predict the weather for all US locations. If there is a major heat-wave or Winter storm that we are aware of, we will hold all potentially affected orders until it passes. However, it is the buyer’s responsibility to understand their own local climate, and order accordingly.
We recommend that tropical plants (Nepenthes, some butterworts and sundews) not be sent when low temperatures are below 35F. We offer optional heat-packs that will keep tropical plants warm during cold (but not extreme) weather.
Temperate plants (American pitcher plants, Venus flytraps, etc) are much less sensitive to cold weather, and can be safely shipped all year to most areas.

Returns
We do not accept plant returns under any circumstances. Please do not return plants. Contact support@predatoryplants.com for details.
