Size:
Rhizome: 10cm
Leaves(5x): 2,3,4,6 & 6cm
My conditions: Indoors, 15cm net cup, 50/50 LFS and perlite + live sphagnum top dressing. The plant is potted with the rhizome resting against the surface of the media. I use LED lights on a photoperiod that matches daylight in my area. Temperature: 30C day/20C night. Humidity: 30 to 50%.
Health 5/5
No infections, deficiencies, pests, or stress.
Damage 5/5
The condition was far superior to the images shown on the website.
Vigor 5/5
One new leaf and at least three new roots have developed.
Appearance 1/5
Rhizome: well developed - better than in the photo.
Leaves: The only defined pattern on the upper surface of the leaves is a single silvery stripe down the midrib. In some leaves this stripe is incomplete. The leaf that formed under my care is patterned in this same way. There are L. discolor varieties that show this type of patterning, but no mention was made in the sales description that this plant is an atypical variety. The photograph on the sales page also shows well developed striping on the leaves. Appearance is the most important category for me, at least with this plant. I bought the plant under the assumption that the photograph was representative of the plant that I would receive. L. discolor is not especially uncommon, and I think that it is fair to expect a plant that has more that one stripe per leaf. If I were hunting for a var. nigrescens or something my rating would be different.
