This hard-to-find variant of the northern purple pitcher plant is rarely seen for sale, and these vigorous clones offered are exclusive to Predatory Plants. Normally, the purple pitcher plant is red or purple with red flowers, but this extremely rare variant is all green with yellow flowers! S. purpurea ssp. purpurea f. heterophylla produces pitchers with an attractive yellow tinge under optimal growing conditions.

S. purpurea ssp. purpurea f. heterophylla originally comes from mainly Northeastern United States and parts of Eastern Canada, where it grows amongst normal purple pitcher plants. It can tolerate down to 18F temperatures so long as the roots and pot do not freeze solid. A top layer of ice or snow on the surface of the soil is common in wild populations. Conversely, S. purpurea ssp. purpurea f. heterophylla can tolerate up to slightly above 100F temperatures in the summer so long as it is slowly acclimated to the heat. If it gets very hot in your area, we recommend temporarily moving the plant to a shadier location until the heat subsides.

Plants offered are established and well grown, with multiple growth points, and should be flowering-maturity either this or next growing season. There's a very limited supply, so be sure to get them while you can!
